A symposium on modern architecture in Hungary will be held at the Liszt Institute – Hungarian Cultural Centre Stuttgart to accompany the exhibitions “Experimental Housing Estate Budapest – Model Houses Napraforg\u00f3 Street” and “Light and Form”. Dr. Raquel Jauregu\u00edzar will also look at the influence of German modernism on social housing in Spain in the 1940s and 50s.<\/p>\n

The lectures will be held in English.<\/p>\n

\nDLA \u00c0gnes Anna Sebesty\u00e9n: “The Reception and Press Appearances of Modern Settlements in Interwar Hungary”<\/em>
\nDr. Raquel Jauregu\u00edzar: “The Reception of German Modernism in Social Housing in Madrid”<\/em><\/p>\n

The presentations last 25-30 minutes and their will be a final discussion.<\/p>\n

\nExperimental Estate Budapest – Model Houses Napraforg\u00f3-Street
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

The exhibition in the Weissenhofwerkstatt in Haus Mies van der Rohe (Am Weissenhof 20, 70191 Stuttgart) shows the Hungarian Napraforg\u00f3 Street estate in the context of the Weissenhof estate. It displays historical plans, photos and models. It was created in co-operation with the Hungarian Museum of Architecture.<\/p>\n

\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

The modernist endeavours of the great period between 1927 and 1950 have been preserved for posterity in photographs, among other things. A selection, compiled by the Hungarian Museum of Architecture Budapest (M\u00c9M MDK), is on show at the Liszt Institute in Stuttgart in its gallery (Christofstr. 7, 70178 Stuttgart). The photographs convey the idea of so-called Neues Sehen (New Vision) and often appeared in the columns of the then legendary architectural magazine “T\u00e9r \u00e9s Forma”.<\/p>\n
