The IBA’27 as drive for the future of Weissenhof 2027+
21.11.2024

Presentation by Dr Raquel Jaureguízar

In 2027, the Weissenhof Estate is set to shine as it celebrates its 100th birthday. The anniversary will also mark the exhibition year of the International Building Exhibition 2027 StadtRegion Stuttgart and the Weissenhof will become the central arrival point for visitors. Thanks to the intensive commitment of the Friends of the Weissenhof Estate e.V., the City of Stuttgart and the IBA’27, it is now foreseeable that two important building blocks for the further development and renewal of the estate and its surroundings will be brought to life by 2027. The outstanding designs for the Visitor and Information Centre (BIZ) and the Brenzkirche church tie in with the eventful history of the site as well as the ideas of modernism and at the same time provide new answers to the ecological, economic and social questions of our time.

The architect and project manager of IBA’27, Dr Raquel Jaureguízar, will explain the themes and the process in the Weissenhof Quarter up to 2027(+) in her lecture “IBA”27 as a driving force for the future of Weissenhof 2027+ “ and present the two new IBA”27 projects, the BIZ and the Brenzkirche, together with Anja Krämer, director of the Weissenhof Museum and Christoph Nägele, head of the BIZ planning team at the City of Stuttgart’s Department of Culture.
